Dr. White speaks to optometrists in Hartford.
Dr. White traveled to Hartford, Connecticut on April 1st to speak to a group of optometrists on behalf of Allergan pharmaceuticals. This talk was another in a series of speaking engagements for Dr. White on the topic of "The Business of Dry Eye Care". Speaking to an audience of about 20, Dr. White shared his experiences with treating dry eye patients, especially his extensive experience utilizing the Allergan medicine, Restasis.
"At SkyVision centers we always try to emphasize the concept of "doing well by doing good." What we mean by that is we must always put the interest of our patients first. It's inappropriate to think about any business or commerce unless we are getting absolutely outstanding patient outcomes", said Dr. White. "Having said that, we firmly believe that there is an essential beneficial relationship between providing excellent patient care and in doing so, utilizing sound business practices."
Several years ago SkyVision centers completed a project in which the doctors evaluated the particular strategies that allow them to be among the most successful doctors when treating dry eye. "Retasis is simply a fantastic medicine when it comes to treating patients with dry eye. In fact, we firmly believe that it's not possible to treat dry eye well enough unless doctors have an excellent understanding of how, why, and when to use Restasis." Dr. White is well known for the very expressive manner in which he gets his points across. After meeting his patient/character "Linda Blair", doctors are never able to forget the picture that Dr. White has drawn in their minds!
"I enjoy these talks because it gives me a chance to get out and meet more of my colleagues. I always learn at least as much from them as they might learn from me. I always come back from these speaking engagements a better doctor!"
