GIVING EYES. PERMANENTLY BRIGHTENING THE HOLIDAYS…AND BEYOND

This holiday season was a very exciting time for 5 deserving people courtesy of Dr. Darrell E. White, Dr. Todd M. Bescak, and the staff at Skyvision Centers. The five selected received free Lasik surgery on January 5, 2006. The holiday charity event was developed with the support of Bausch & Lomb and appropriately titled “Giving Eyes”, permanently brightening the holidays and beyond.

The idea behind the campaign was to encourage people to write a letter or story about someone they knew, or themselves, explaining why they deserve to receive free Lasik surgery. The campaign started around the time of Thanksgiving and ended on December 21, 2005. Skyvision Centers received and considered well over 100 letters during that time. The entire staff read each letter, and was a part of the selection.

On December 23, 2005 the patients were contacted informing them they had been chosen to be evaluated to possibly receive free Lasik surgery. In fact, some people are actually not good medical candidates. If it was determined that a chosen patient wasn’t a candidate for the procedure then a new pair of glasses was made for them. Some of these people were completely shocked and had no idea that a friend or family had nominated them for this when we called. It was a very touching moment for these people and the entire staff at Skyvision Centers.

The surgeries took place on January 5, 2006 at Skyvision Centers Westlake. The names of the winners are as follows:

Eva Miller , Janet Hozan, Jon Munger, Theresa Lesner, and Jason Brewer.

It was a morning filled with great emotions. To be able to give the gift of sight to someone is truly a gift they will remember always and forever. This was a life altering day for these five deserving people.
