RUSSIAN OPTOMETRISTS AND OPHTHALMOLOGISTS VISITING
On Monday September 19, 2005 a group of eleven Russian Optometrists and Ophthalmologists came to visit Skyvision Centers™ of Westlake. Skyvision Centers™ is a new, state-of-the-art eye care facility that is the first of its kind, founded by Darrell E. White, M.D., Scott C. Schlegel, O.D., and Greg J. Kaye, O.D. in January 2005. The office was built from the ground up to be centered on the patient. Vision, medical, and surgical eye care are all provided in the office, along with a vast selection of modern and fashionable eyewear.
The Russian doctors made their trip to the United States in sponsorship with the Amherst Rotary Club to learn and observe the ways capitalism and medicine are practiced within an office. An Optometrist that belongs to the Rotary Club choose Skyvision Centers™ of Westlake to be their destination so that the group could learn more about creating a medical facility with a combination of art, science, and health.
While the Russian doctors visited Skyvision Centers™ they were all very eager to ask many questions about the business idea and how it came about. They asked questions about marketing techniques, and how we have successfully set ourselves apart from other offices. Many of them took pictures with their digital cameras of various examination rooms, and the laser suite which houses the Bausch & Lomb Excimer laser used to perform LASIK and laser vision correction. They seemed surprised to see that the office is fully computerized with digital imaging, computerized scheduling, and a digital computerized medical records system. Some of the Russian doctors requested to view a surgical procedure the following day involving Refractive Cataract surgery with a Crystalens™ accommodating lens implant.
The Skyvision Centers™ concept is new and unique in eye care. 'We wanted to create a totally patient centered experience,' said Darrell E.
